The significance of proper cardio shoes is often underrated. The form of cardio shoes depends on what you are doing for your workout. If you're a serious runner, you require running shoes. These are lighter than other versions of cardio shoes, and concentrate padding for where runners need it. They are no good for playing tennis, for instance, as they provide almost no lateral ankle support. For tennis, or most other exercises that involve more than just moving in a straight line, you require a different kind of cardio shoes: cross trainers or running shoes. Basically, both of these cardio shoes are about the same thing - the modern version of the fitness center shoe, with a great deal of padding, but still a low top to permit some flexibility and movement at the ankle.
On the other hand, if you take part in basketball, you need bigger sturdier cardio shoe to adequately protect your ankle. These are called high tops, and they go up completely to the top of the ankle. They are great for this sport, because you're repeatedly jumping high, bursting into abrupt sprints in various directions, and doing a lot of other things that can wreak havoc onbe very hard on your ankle. They protect you from injuries more effectively than any other kind of cardio shoes, and you will see almost all basketball players wearing them. They're not good for the versions of sprints that you have in tennis, however, and so are infrequently if ever worn by tennis players. Then again, if you're a cross country runner, you need different aerobic shoes altogether. They are going to be kind of a combination between sneakers and light hiking boots, with a fairly light build and a whole lot of traction on the bottom. If you go for a career in personal training this is only one of the aspects of fitness you should know all about - but that's another story completely.
